This is a gnat's-eye view between two piano keys inspired by local artist, Mark McDiarmid. An expression not just of the juxtaposition of ebony and ivory, nor of the basic and the chromatic tones of the major scale, but of the ultimate contrast of black and white, yin and yang, and the energy that issues from their exact interface.
This piece is hand-quilted, allowing a lovely return to the peaceful and contemplative act that quilting once was before I began machine-quilting. It is the first quilt I hand-quilted in a long time. What a pleasure!
